1. 49ers fan
A person who is affiliated in a positive way with the football team the San Francisco 49ers. Generally very loyal for sticking with a franchise that seems to only get worse as the years pass by. Younger 49ers fans often burst into fits of rage and tears at the mere thought of their team while older 49ers fans have a very high likely hood of being ESPN Classic subscribers. Those who remember the good old days are likely to respond to any criticism with "We had Joe Montana" no matter what the state of the team currently is. Most 49ers fans you encounter will likely have some sort of brain damage due to banging their heads against any acceptable object after learning of the numerous financial and personnel decisions by the 49ers higher ups. They have nightmares about Terrell Owens and peaceful dreams about once again achieving .500.
"you're a 49ers fan? Oh I'm sorry"
2. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers were established in 1950 as the Bay Area's NFL franchise, but struggled for their 1st 20 years of existance, with just 1 playoff berth. The team had a few good runs with 3 playoff berths in the early 1970s, but did not become the outstanding franchise that fans remember until the early 1980s. In 1981, with Joe Montana in his first year at starting quarterback and receiver Dwight Clark having an amazing year that would culminate in a game winning catch in the AFC title game, the 49ers made the playoffs and their 1st Super Bowl. The Niners win Super Bowl XVI in a 4th quarter comeback against the Bengals. After a poor season the next year, San Francisco went on a streak of 8 straight playoff berths from 1983-90. During that time, the team's powerful offense, now with excellent receiver Jerry Rice, won 3 more Super Bowls. They dominated the Dolphins to win Super Bowl XIX in 1984 and then won back to back crowns in 1988 and 1989, in what were 2 totally different championship games. The Super Bowl XXIII win was in a thriller against the Bengals, while the Super Bowl XXIV title was an easy victory. After just missing the playoffs in 1991, they went on another postseason streak from 1992-98. Now with Steve Young under center, they won their 5th Super Bowl in 1994, a blowout to take SB XXIX. The team was dismantled after 1998, but with a new cast, they returned to dominance a few years later, with playoff berths in 2001 and 2002. However, since then, the team h...

3. Niner Empire
A group of the most rabid, extreme, and hostile fans of the San Francisco 49ers. Along with having a massive number of followers, the members of the Niner Empire are very aggressive, and vocally abusive to opposing fans, and debunk the myth that all 49er fans are wine-and-cheese fans. Home base is Candlestick Park, where they gather at every 49er home game. The Niner Empire is also made up of many different smaller factions, including fans from all over the nation and even world. There are Niner Empire groups from L.A., San Diego, Arizona, Washington, Minnesota, and many others, including the core Bay Area group, that founded it.
The Niner Empire is always out in full force in fierce loyalty known only to the 49ers. Rival fans like wussy, bitch ass Raider fans, and gay ass Cryboys aren't welcome near The Stick, and will be taunted, yelled at, and have things thrown at them for being gay. Seahawks and Rams suck ballz too. THE NINER EMPIRE-EXTREME AND HOSTILE.
4. 18-1
A feat achieve by the San Francisco 49ers, Chiacgo Bears, and New England Patriots.
The San Francisco 49ers went 18-1 and won the Super bowl.

The Chicago Bears went 18-1 and won the Super bowl.

The New England Patriots went 18-1 and lost the Super bowl. Sucka!
5. Niner Empire
The alternate name of the fanbase and territory of the San Francisco 49ers. The original being the 49er Faithful. The origins are believed to be inspired by John Madden once calling the 49er dynasty of the 80's "the Holy Roman Empire of the NFL." SF Bay Area writers also referred to the 49ers fans as "the Niner Empire" to oppose the Raider Nation. The Niner Empire name was adopted by a group of diehard Northern California fans during the down years of the mid 2000's, and has grown in popularity since its' inception. It is made up of various factions of fans from all over the US, and even worldwide. Demographically, it is all encompassing, though one thing remains the same: they are all fiercely loyal to the 49ers, known for their predilection towards rowdiness and general belligerency, especially to rivals teams and fans.
The stereotype of San Francisco fans being soft, wine 'n cheese snobs has been destroyed by the Niner Empire, the loyal, proud, and hostile fans of the 49ers.

Only the most diehard, faithful 49ers fans may call themselves part of the Niner Empire.
