Short for Highway fever

1. A very contagious fever that causes the responsible driving part of the brain to slip out of consciousness. Caught while driving on major Highways such as Trans Canada or Interstate.

Symptoms: Driving very fast, excessive passing on the opposite lane and tailgating at 100km/h.

The risk of Hwy Fever increases with prolonged driving on the Highway. Worst when combined with city driving and drowsiness.
We started the road trip with our driver's manuals glued to our head.

We ended the road trip in a dazed state with severe Hwy Fever only snapping into consciousness when a passenger pointed out we were hitting 180 km/h.
