Derived from the word collywobbles
meaning 'queasiness or general discomfort caused by nervousness', Colliwobbles signifies the choking phenomenon experienced by the Collingwood Football Club
The term entered the Victorian vocabulary during Collingwood
's premiership drought losing 9 grand finals between 1958 and 1990. After Collingwood
's 1990 grand final victory, Lou Richards famously buried Col E. Wobbles at a mock ceremony at Victoria Park. Although Collingwood
later lost consecutive grand finals in 2002 and 2003.
With Collingwood sitting on top of the AFL ladder right now, the Colliwobbles are poised to strike again in 2010
