Ukase -- pronounced You-KAYS. From the Russian term, "ukas," of similar pronunciation, meaning a decree by the czar that had the force of law. In English, it means decree, or edict. Recently used by United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in an anterview with New York Magazine.
Americans have a right to feel that way. They have a democratic right to do that, and if it is to change, it should change democratically, and not at the ukase of a Supreme Court.
