Since the 1930's and '40's geet has been what jazz musicians have called money. Like many other words supposedly invented by modern musicians (crib, axe, chops, short, solid, righteous, tight, etc.) it all started with zoot suits.
Hey, man, why don't you roll up to the crib in yo' sharp short and float me some geet? Dat would be righteous! And bring yo' axe 'cuz you really got your chops together.
