gum-mouth (gum′ət̸h)
The phenomenon in which chewing gum is broken down so thoroughly that it releases its petrochemicals, rendering it tough and astringent. One would be no better off than if chewing a chinese dog toy. Merely chewing for the sake of chewing, the once joyful act becomes a chore.
Bill started chewing his last piece of gum, for he would sooner buy another pack than suffer from gummouth.
