A tea made from poppy straw (everything EXCLUDING the poppy seeds), which usually consists of ground up poppy pods and/or poppy stems. Usually confused with "poppy seed tea" which is weaker and made with a large amount of poppy seeds.

poppy seeds, contrary to popular belief, do NOT contain any opium or opiates. Rather, they get residue of opiates by being in the pod. Hence, poppy tea is not made from poppy seeds.
