Presenting the facade of prosperity, success, wealth, or commercial activity by the use of fake goods, knock-offs, or false fronts, in order to impress or fool the public, government officials, financial investors, or friends, as a propaganda tool.
As Fermanagh, Ireland, prepared to host officials from the wealthy G8 nations, run-down and abandoned stores were painted over with images of "free-market" prosperity. A happy, thriving butcher's shop consisted of stickers plastered to windows showing rows of meat, fish, poultry ready for sale, like a prop for a Hollywood movie.
Obama: "Hey, look at that great butcher shop!"
Putin: "This is nice Irish Austerity Village full of propsperity. Is just like my Mother Russia."
