The residue smeared on an airplane after a bird/plane collision. The snarge is generally all that is left of the bird. Every day numerous samples are taken off of airplanes and sent in for DNA testing to help map out what kinds of birds are colliding with airplanes. Both the FFA and military have a vested interest in these results.
The DNA test on the snarge showed it was a pigeon.

Likewise, a person who jumps on the blogwagon will often do so to make themselves feel as if they are part of the community of others who have already commented on the event. It also makes them feel important because they think they have something important to say, when in reality they are simply reguritating opinions already portrayed everywhere else.
After reading many other comments about the stranded refugees, Suzy jumped on the blogwagon and wrote a post describing how much it personally pained her to see so many people in such horrible conditions.
